Hajnal Papp was born in 2001 in Hungary. She completed her high school education in the Art School of Szombathely, specializing in painting. During this time, she created book illustrations for Szülőföld Publisher, and she also held her first solo exhibition in her hometown of Szentgotthárd. Since 2020, she has been studying painting at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Pécs.

Since a work of art is made from material, it has its own destiny. It is born with the act of creation and will die as soon as the physical form is ruined. It is part of time. Still then, there is the desire in creation to achieve eternity. A painted face never change or never move on the canvas, so in a certain sense it is timeless. This timelessness concern me while i creating my paintings. I portrayed my figures in peaceful positions, as if they were just relaxing, but could move at any time and that’s why their presence shows focused attention. To reconfirm this feeling, I painted my works to be almost life-sizes, so they can be more closer to the experience of a real, breathing person.

I wanted to choose compositions what are tell the viewer about praying, attention for inner world or attention for the other, outside. At my last pieces I work with the closed presence of the sleeping person. It is always very intimate to seeing someone sleeping. It take confidence and love between us to let the other seeing us so vulnerable.
